CTE Pilot Proposal · June 12, 2026

A Force for Health in every TUSD high school.

A turnkey, gamified workforce-development system for Tucson Unified CTE — three connected career lanes, a student-built showcase magazine, and an inter-school Reality Health Games competition. Powered by PHIT Data Systems.

Prepared for Chuck McCollum, CTE Coordinator · Tucson Unified School District
The runway changed

Last year you loved the idea. This year we can build it.

Last year

  • A concept with no production runway
  • FFH as a network and a program
  • A single-school magazine idea
  • Manual coordination, no data layer

Now — powered by PHIT Data Systems

  • A live Omni-Media Publishing Studio — the magazine is a deliverable, not an idea
  • PHIT data tracks participation, outcomes & scores per school
  • A Tucson Chamber of Health → Arizona stage to compete on
  • Coach Lucy & Dr. Rob virtual coaches + built-in coins, badges, leaderboards
The strategy

One workforce strategy — three connected lanes.

Not new courses to staff. Applied, cross-program challenges that plug into the CTE programs TUSD already runs — each mapped to the Arizona ADE CTE category clusters.

Lane 01 · Healthcare Pre-Apprentice

Healthcare Workforce

Whatever Tucson is short — RNs, MAs, behavioral & allied health — students route through gamified career exploration, certification prep, and an apprenticeship pipeline hospital partners actually hire from.

Lane 02 · Marstronaut

STEM, STEAM, Manufacturing & Space

The broadest CTE cluster on the AZ list — engineering, automation, networking, electrical, transportation, construction, JROTC and energy. Marstronaut reimagines careers through a space-exploration storyline, K-12 friendly. The "A" in STEAM is what makes the magazine and the games possible.

Lane 03 · My Healthy IDEAS

Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Pathways don't activate themselves. This is the FFH A3 STEAM Team — Athletes, Artists & Angels who fund, design, market and tell the story of every other lane. Students pitch, brand and "sell" health innovation through My Healthy IDEAS.

The capstone you loved

"How Our School Is a Force for Health"

One interactive print magazine per high school — produced by students — the single clearest proof of cross-CTE integration. Every program contributes, and the Omni-Media Publishing Studio is built to produce and print it.

Story & Media

Film & TV · Photography · Stagecraft — features, video embeds, photography

Run the Business

The engagement engine

Reality Health Games™ — a competition Chuck runs.

A platform for you to manage and support an inter-school Reality Health Games competition inside TUSD — that also plugs into the larger Tucson Chamber of Health and the Arizona stage.

  • Teams earn LEARN It / LIVE It / SHARE It coins, badges & leaderboard standings
  • Coach Lucy & Dr. Rob host the journey with reward pop-ups at milestones
  • District dashboard: track participation & standings per school

Where we start

A focused anchor cohort for the pilot.

Start with the schools whose program coverage lets every lane and the magazine run end-to-end.

Tucson High Magnet

Widest CTE footprint — Bioscience, Business, Graphic Design, Film & TV, Digital Comm, Sports Med, trades. The flagship build.

Pueblo

Bioscience + Home Health Aide + Marketing + Engineering + Film/Photo — all three lanes and the magazine in one building.

Sabino

Bioscience + Graphic Design + Digital Comm + Computer Science — health lane plus a full magazine production team.

Cholla (optional 4th)

Graphic Design + Business + Sports Medicine + strong creative programs.

The ask

An open, value-first pilot — you choose the scope.

1
Green-light a full one-year pilot

A complete school year at the anchor cohort — the runway to run all three lanes, a full games season, and ship the printed magazine end-to-end.

2
Fund the print magazine

The headline deliverable — Omni-Media Publishing Studio production and the print run of each school's annual showcase magazine, delivered to families.

3
Name a CTE point-of-contact per school + platform setup

Existing program teachers — no new hires. Co-funding angles to stretch the budget: Perkins V, AZ STO tax-credit, and CTSO tie-ins (HOSA · FFA · FCCLA).

4
Access to add schools to the TUSD Group

So participation, coins and the magazine all track in one place from day one.

Investment — a starting point, not a package

$2,500 / high school + $10,000 white-label platform set-up. Optional add-ons: a certified FFH Coach, Earned-It rewards, and the printed Showcase Magazine. It all culminates in a year-end showcase event the students produce. Start where you'll see value — then expand.

Ready today

The pieces are already in place.

Assets confirmed

✓ Canva — three TUSD folders live: TUSD (2024), TUSD (2025, ~50 site/event photos for the magazine), TUSD FACE.

✓ CTE map — all 12 TUSD sites mapped to the three lanes & the magazine.

✓ Coalition — Pipeline Connects, Banner, AZHWAN; Chamber of Southern Arizona next.

⧖ TUSD Groups — five regions + FACE to be verified once the Supabase connector is wired.

One year. One cohort.
One printed showcase the whole district sees.

Pick a lane. Bring your schools. We'll bring the pathway.
