What is The Poppy Collection?

Same patient. Every vantage. Five minutes.

An empathy machine disguised as a 5-minute reality health game. Walk a sickle cell crisis from inside a capillary out to the Medicaid rulebook. Watch the policy room write the rules that show up in the ER three months later. Stand in eight different seats at the table — same patient, every time.

The Story

Why we built it

The hardest part of being a patient isn’t the diagnosis. It’s being the only person in every appointment — the one consistent thread across primary care, specialist, ED, pharmacy, school, insurance, and the policy room.

Most health education is built for one seat at the table at a time. A patient education pamphlet. A nurse CE course. A payer white paper. A community-health toolkit. They never see each other.

The Poppy Collection is what happens when you put all eight seats around the same patient and let people walk the path from any of them. Maya, 15, in sickle cell crisis. Jamal on the football field. David day 7 post-MI. Naomi at 28 weeks with BP 142/88. Every choice you make from one seat shows up — minutes, days, or months later — in another seat.

“Population health doesn’t happen in the clinic. It happens in the gaps between clinics — the kitchen table, the school nurse’s office, the budget hearing, the prior-auth queue. Poppy is the first thing I’ve built that lets you stand in all of them.” — Dr. Rob Gillio, CMO, The Force for Health Network

How a Mission Works

Five zoom levels. Five to ten minutes.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

Do I need to be logged in to play?
No. Anyone can play any mission — missions work in incognito or for first-time visitors. But if you’re logged in, your coins and progress will eventually sync to your member profile (Phase 2). Logged-in members will also be eligible for Ambassador-tier credit.
How long does a mission take?
Five to ten minutes per mission. There are five zoom levels per mission, each one choice. The intro and debrief add a couple of minutes on either end.
Are the missions clinically accurate?
Yes. Every mission is built on Dr. Rob Gillio’s 25 years of clinical practice and population-health work, plus evidence-based protocols (ACC/AHA for cardiac, ADA for diabetes, ACOG for maternal, AAP for pediatric, ACS for cancer screening, ASH for sickle cell, AHRQ for safety bundles). Mission debriefs cite the relevant guideline.
Can my organization white-label or write our own missions?
Yes. The Powertool has an Admin Shell — open it by appending ?admin=1 to the URL or triple-clicking the FFH logo. Partner licensing includes the admin builder, sharable mission URLs, and personal Dashboard. Contact Coach Lucy for partnership details.
Can I share a single mission with a friend or patient?
Yes. Every mission has a sharable URL of the form theforce.health/poppy-powertool/?sim=patient-sickle-cell. Replace the ID for any of the 42 live missions. The URL drops the recipient straight into that one mission.
What conditions are covered?
Seven, today: Sickle Cell Disease, Asthma, Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiac Rehab, Opioid Overdose / OUD, Maternal Health, and Dementia Care. The roadmap adds Type 1 Diabetes (school-age), Pediatric Asthma, Cancer Survivorship, Hypertension, CKD, and Mental Health.
Is there a CE / CME version for clinicians?
Coming in Phase 2. The clinical role missions (ER Nurse, Provider, School Nurse) are designed to be CE/CME-eligible. We’re working with accrediting partners.
How does this relate to the rest of Reality Health Games?
The Poppy Collection is one Powertool inside the larger Reality Health Games series, alongside Train the Brain (trivia/Jeopardy/word games), Prevention Bingo, the Explorer Bingo line, and others. Coins, badges, and Ambassador credit are shared across all of them. See the full series →
