User Registration & Activation — Complete Flow

Every screen, every fork, and every conditional rule in the member sign-up journey — from the Create Account form through activation to the Member Home. Screenshots throughout, taken from the current build. Written from the shipped code, not from the design intent.

Version 3 · with screenshots · 15 September 2026 Source: /activation-journey Hosted by Coach Lucy Internal — not for public distribution

1 The shape of it, in one breath

Four fixed screens wrap a middle that expands or collapses depending on who the person says they are.

① Create Account
On the login page. Name, username, email, password. Happens once.
② Activation Journey
Welcome → choose your speed → age gate → the variable middle → agreement → security.
③ Celebration
Summary of roles, groups, pathways and plan. Confetti. Named welcome.
④ Member Home
/demo-dashboard/ with its own welcome modal and 6-step guided tour.
Why the step counter keeps changing The journey rebuilds its own step list on every single render. At the Welcome screen it can only see 6 steps ahead, so it says “Step 1 of 6.” The moment someone picks “Personalize now” it jumps to 11, and choosing a paid plan pushes it to 12 or 13. Nothing is broken — the progress bar is honest about a path it cannot know in advance.

2 Walk the flow — every screen, in order

Shot from the current build as MaryJones, a member who selected both “For myself” and “As a leader”, chose Education and Non-Profit sectors, and took the Ambassador plan with a VIP100 code. That is the longest common path — 14 screens.

welcome Step 1 · Welcome
Step 1 · Welcome

Co-hosted opening — Dr. Rob for health guidance, Coach Lucy for systems and support, and the three coins.

Conditional logic: Everyone sees this. The UX PREVIEW ribbon that used to sit above it is gone. No coach bar on this screen only.

path Step 2 · How would you like to start?
Step 2 · How would you like to start?

The biggest fork in the product: personalize now, or get in fast.

Conditional logic: Personalize now opens 7–9 more screens. Just sign me up skips the entire middle — six screens end to end.

age Step 3 · Safety check
Step 3 · Safety check

Four age bands. This one answer quietly shapes two later screens.

Conditional logic: Under 13 terminates the flow — Continue is removed, only Back remains. Teenager changes the demographics wording later.

why Step 4 · How are you joining us?
Step 4 · How are you joining us?

Note the step counter: this is now step 4, not step 5. The duplicate “Create your free account” screen is gone — email, username and password are captured once, on the real Create Account form.

Conditional logic: Blocks until at least one tile is lit.

why Step 4 · Both tiles lit — new in v2
Step 4 · Both tiles lit — new in v2

This used to be either/or. Now both can be selected at once, and the flow grows to carry both branches.

Conditional logic: Picking both opens b_individual AND b_sector. Groups and pathways from both sides merge and de-duplicate; the member reads as “Member & Sector Leader”.

b_individual Step 5 · What brings you here?
Step 5 · What brings you here?

The personal side of the journey — five role chips, pick any number.

Conditional logic: Only appears if “For myself” is lit. Zero selections is allowed — this screen never blocks.

b_sector Step 6 · Which sectors do you lead in?
Step 6 · Which sectors do you lead in?

The five canonical Chamber of Health sectors.

Conditional logic: Only appears if “As a leader” is lit. Requires at least one sector. The sectors picked here drive which plan gets the Recommended badge two screens later.

location Step 7 · Where are you?
Step 7 · Where are you?

State and ZIP, both optional.

Conditional logic: Optional — but the ZIP is what seeds the territory list on the Chamber Director estimator. Skip it there and the Director sees generic sample territories instead of their own.

demographics Step 8 · A little about you
Step 8 · A little about you

Gender and race/ethnicity, for aggregate funder reporting only.

Conditional logic: Every field optional. If the member said “teenager” on step 3, this reads “Sex assigned at birth” with a reduced option set instead of “Gender”.

plan Step 9 · Pick your plan
Step 9 · Pick your plan

Six levels, free preselected so this screen never blocks. Community / School Leader carries the Recommended badge here because Education was selected.

Conditional logic: The bottom three levels are hidden from anyone who is not a leader. The Recommended badge is computed: Healthcare without Education → Enterprise; Education, Public or Non-Profit → Community/School; anything else leading → Group Leader; not leading → Ambassador.

plan Step 9 · Membership accordions — new in v2
Step 9 · Membership accordions — new in v2

The ⓘ tooltips are gone. Every membership now carries its own accordion, attached to the card, listing exactly what that level includes.

Conditional logic: Opens and closes without selecting the plan. Hidden levels hide their accordion with them.

plan Step 9 · One coupon box
Step 9 · One coupon box

VIP100 applied — 100% comped, payment bypassed.

Conditional logic: There used to be a second coupon box on checkout. Removed — a code is entered once, here.

pay Step 10 · Checkout
Step 10 · Checkout

Demo checkout. With VIP100 applied the card fields drop away and the button becomes “Activate — no charge”.

Conditional logic: Only appears for Ambassador or Group Leader. Community/School goes to a calculator then a quote form; Chamber Director goes to the territory estimator; Enterprise goes to a consult request; Free skips straight to the agreement.

consent Step 11 · The agreement
Step 11 · The agreement

Two prominent summary buttons and the single agreement checkbox. No marketing opt-in anywhere in this flow.

Conditional logic: Blocks until the checkbox is ticked.

consent Step 11 · Terms summary — new in v2
Step 11 · Terms summary — new in v2

Ten plain-English bullets covering what members are actually agreeing to, in Coach Lucy’s voice, with a link out to the full document.

Conditional logic: Opens scrolled to the top so nothing is cut off.

consent Step 11 · Privacy summary — new in v2
Step 11 · Privacy summary — new in v2

The same treatment for privacy — never sold, what’s collected, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.

Conditional logic: Both summaries link out to the full compliance pages.

secure Step 12 · Extra safety
Step 12 · Extra safety

Optional 2-step verification.

Conditional logic: Never blocks — both answers continue, and so does no answer.

finish Step 13 · You’re all set
Step 13 · You’re all set

The summary: roles and tags, groups being joined, pathways waiting, and the plan line.

Conditional logic: Everything on this screen is computed from the answers above. The pathways shown here are still placeholder labels — see the open items at the end.

finish Celebration → Member Home
Celebration → Member Home

Confetti, greeted by username, then the handoff.

Conditional logic: Writes the activation profile and redirects to /demo-dashboard/?welcome=new&name=… — the one Member Home — where that page’s own welcome modal and 6-step guided tour take over.

3 Entry — where a member actually starts

Entry A · the normal way
Create Account — /user-profile/login/?tab=signup
First name, last name, username, email, password. Creates the Supabase account, marks the gate passed, and stores username + email for the journey to read.
Blocks until: username is 3–30 characters, letters / numbers / _ . - only · email is valid · password ≥ 6 characters
↓ redirect on successful sign-up
step: welcome
The Activation Journey opens
It reads the handoff, so it never asks for email, username or password again.
Entry B — the cold landing (fallback only) If somebody reaches the journey with no sign-up behind them — a pasted link, cleared browser storage, a fresh incognito window — the old account step reappears mid-flow so they can still create an account. This adds exactly one step to every path below. It is a safety net, not a route anyone should be sent down on purpose.

4 The fixed spine — everyone sees these

Three screens at the front, three at the back. Everything in between is conditional.

step: welcome
“We’re so glad you’re here!”
Co-hosted intro — Dr. Rob for health guidance, Coach Lucy for systems and support. The three coins. No coach bar on this screen.
No gate — Continue is always live
↓
step: path · FORK 1
“How would you like to start?”
Personalize now → the full middle opens (7 to 9 more screens)
Just sign me up → the entire middle is skipped
Blocks until: one option chosen
↓
step: age · FORK 2 — SAFETY
“First — how old are you?”
55 or older · Adult (18–54) · Teenager (13–17) · Under 13
Blocks until: one option chosen. Under 13 terminates the flow.
↓    …the variable middle goes here (Section 4)…    ↓
step: consent
“One last thing” — the Agreement
Two pop-up summaries in plain language (Terms, Privacy), each linking out to the full document, plus the single agreement checkbox. No marketing opt-in anywhere.
Blocks until: the checkbox is ticked
↓
step: secure
“Add an extra layer of safety”
Turn on 2-step verification, or Maybe later.
No gate — either answer continues, and skipping is allowed
↓
step: finish
“You’re all set!” — the summary
Roles and tags · groups they’re being added to · pathways waiting · their plan line. Button reads Enter the Network 🎉.
→ celebration modal → redirect to /demo-dashboard/
Dead end by design: Under 13 Choosing “I’m under 13” replaces the rest of the flow with a single grownup screen and removes the Continue button entirely. The only way forward is the Back button. This is deliberate — accounts for under-13s are created by a parent, guardian or teacher — but it does mean a child who taps it and doesn’t notice the Back button is stuck. Worth watching in testing.

5 Fork 1 — Personalize now vs. Just sign me up

This single tap is the biggest branch in the product. It decides whether a person answers seven questions or zero.

🎯 “Personalize my experience now” — the long road
  • why — for myself and/or as a leader Fork 3 → Section 5
  • b_individual — what brings you here only if “for myself” is selected
  • b_sector — which Chamber sectors only if “as a leader” is selected
  • location — state + ZIP optional, but the ZIP feeds the territory picker later
  • demographics — gender, race/ethnicity every field optional
  • plan — pick your plan Fork 4 → Section 6
  • plus 1–2 calculator or checkout screens depends entirely on the plan chosen
⚡ “Just sign me up for now” — the short road
  • Nothing. The middle is skipped whole — straight from the age gate to the agreement.

Six screens end to end. No intent, no sector, no location, no plan — which means the member lands with the generic starter set: Network Members group and the four popular pathways (360 Health Academy, Train the Brain Arcade, Prevention Bingo, Explore the Network).

⚠️ Open gap — the fast path currently loses its way back The original design promised that skipping personalization turns it into the first badge to earn, offered as a quest on the member home. That quest still exists in the journey’s own member-home markup — but as of this version nothing routes there anymore, because finishing now hands off to /demo-dashboard/. So today, a “Just sign me up” member is never re-offered the chance to personalize. Fix needed: either surface a “Personalize your experience 🏅” card on the dashboard that links back into the journey in personalize-only mode, or move the personalization slice onto the dashboard itself. Flagged, not yet built.

6 Fork 3 — “How are you joining us?” MULTI-SELECT

As of v2 this is no longer either/or. Both tiles can be lit at once, and picking both runs both branches.

🙋 For myself

Opens: b_individual

  • Student / Learner
  • Family member / Caregiver
  • Living with a health condition
  • Community member / Volunteer
  • Donor / Supporter

Optional pick all that apply — or none

👥 As a leader

Opens: b_sector

  • Public Leaders / Government
  • Non-Profit / Funders

Required at least one sector before Continue unlocks

🙋👥 Both — new in v2

Opens both b_individual and b_sector, in that order.

Groups from both sides are merged and de-duplicated. Pathways from both sides are merged and capped at six. The member reads as “Member & Sector Leader” on the summary and the Member Home.

One quiet dependency: the teen rule On the demographics screen, a member who said “I’m a teenager” is asked for Sex assigned at birth (Female / Male / Prefer not to say) instead of Gender (Woman / Man / Non-binary / Prefer not to say). The age answer three screens earlier is what flips it. Everything on that screen stays optional either way.

7 Fork 4 — the plan step and its five tails

The plan screen is the last fork, and the one that decides whether the journey ends in a checkout, a calculator, a quote request, or nothing at all.

What the member is even shown

The three org tiers are hidden from individuals If “As a leader” is not selected, the bottom three plans — and their accordions — are removed from the screen, and the Ambassador nudge box appears instead. If someone had already selected a now-hidden plan (by going Back and changing their intent), the selection silently resets to free. New in v2: every visible plan carries a “What you get at this level” accordion, so nobody has to guess what $99 buys.

Tail A — pay · Ambassador & Group Leader

Demo checkout: card number, expiry, CVC. Unlocks on 12+ digits, 4+ expiry characters, 3+ CVC.
Coupon override: the code VIP100 comps the plan 100% and bypasses the card fields entirely — the button changes to “Activate — no charge 🎁”. It can be entered on the plan screen or the checkout screen; both feed the same state. It is the only code the demo recognises.

Tail B — calc_org → quote_org · Community / School Leader

The quote screen that follows is the most heavily gated screen in the whole journey — organisation, title, who you’re activating, purchasing authority (and who the quote goes to if not you), document type, your school from the list, at least one module, and how you’ll use it. Choosing “Other” for the school adds required address, phone and website, and flags the record for Executive Sales review. Ends in Download quote / Email quote / Pay & activate now.

Tail C — calc_director · Chamber of Health Director

Territory first — metro, statewide, county or municipality, seeded from the ZIP collected earlier (sample Arizona data today; live PHIT™ feed in production). Pricing is per resident, across four levels, multiplied against the territory population.

RateLevelWhat it covers
$0.01/head📡 ReachA Force for Health® front door for the whole community — PHIT™ Report Card, the 16 Community Channels, free Basics membership for every resident
$0.25/head💞 Reach + ConnectAdds the branded Chamber of Health hub, community groups, leaderboards and the Reality Health Games™ season for the territory
$0.50/head🎓 Reach + Connect + TrainAdds Ambassador & Group Leader trainings at every school, plus the Director CRM and territory dashboards
$1.00/head📖 + InspireAdds full PHIT™ Data Hub + API access, and the printed interactive annual Community Health Magazine for every K-12 family

Blocks until a territory and a population band are resolved. The estimate is explicitly framed as a starting point, not a price list — the screen says so, and the button reads “📅 Set up a meeting to customize this.” The old fixed population-base × PHIT-tier dollar table has been retired.

Tail D — calc_enterprise · Healthcare · Agency · Workforce

Space (healthcare system/payer, public agency, workforce/education partner) plus an optional organisation name. No price is ever published on this path — continuing requests a consult, answered within one business day. Nothing gates it.

Tail E — Free

No tail. Straight from the plan screen to the agreement. A leader who stays free is shown the Group Leader Basics box on the summary screen explaining what free leadership does and doesn’t include.

8 Every complete path, end to end

Twelve routes exist. Step counts assume the normal entry (account already created); a cold landing adds one to each.

10 The handoff — what crosses into the Member Home

on “Enter the Network”

Username · email · intent (individual / leader / both) · plan · sectors · individual roles · state · ZIP · timestamp. Plus the member tier, role and gate-passed markers.
↓
redirect
/demo-dashboard/?welcome=new&name=…
The dashboard reads the arrival, forces its welcome modal open even on a browser that has seen it before, greets the member by name — “Welcome to your Member Home, MaryJones! 🌟” — and offers its own 6-step guided tour: side menu → welcome hub & PHIT™ snapshot → Reality Health Games™ → the 16 Communities → content views → role switcher (super admins only).
Three homes, one settled Desktop login and new-member activation now share /demo-dashboard/. The mobile app’s Home tab is intentionally a different surface, and /profile remains a separate page with its own job. Only the first of those three was ever the confusing one, and it is now resolved. A rename of /demo-dashboard/ is planned — the journey points at it through a single constant, so that end is a one-line change.

11 Open items

ItemSeverityWhat’s needed
Pathways are placeholder labels, not real destinationsHigh21 hardcoded label/emoji pairs. Roughly five match something that exists (360 Health Academy, Train the Brain Arcade, Prevention Bingo, Prepared Patient, PHIT™ Data Near You); the rest — Provider Resource Hub, Lesson Plan Library, Classroom Games, Workplace Wellness, Employer Partner Kit, Community Impact Dashboard, Grants & Funding, Coalition Hub, Family Health Toolkit, Volunteer Hub, Foundation & Giving, Impact Stories, My Health Trackers — are invented for the demo and link nowhere. Pathways also key off intent and sector only, never off the plan, so a paying Group Leader gets no Group Leader pathway. Needs a two-axis map (role/sector × plan tier) where every entry resolves to a real URL from the Academy catalog, the Showcase and the Tech Command Center registry.
Fast-lane members can never personalizeHighThe “Personalize your experience 🏅” quest lives on the journey’s retired member home. Needs a re-entry card on the dashboard, or the personalization slice moved onto the dashboard.
Under-13 dead end has no visible exitMediumContinue is removed and only Back remains. Consider an explicit “Start over” button or a parent-invite link on that screen.
Registration is still simulatedMediumThe account is real (Supabase), but plan selection, payment and quote requests are demo-only. Stripe products, webhook and quote routing are unbuilt.
Territory data is sample Arizona onlyKnownPhoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff metros plus statewide. The live PHIT™ county and tribal feed replaces it in production.
Slug inconsistencyLowThe page answers at both /activation-journey and /ffh-activation-journey. House rule says no ffh- in public slugs — needs the clean slug plus a 301.
SMART Clipboard not embeddedLowThe journey uses its own Coach Lucy support button rather than the shared Clipboard widget.
