My Healthy Broadband LIVE is a monthly broadcast built on one conviction: the great digital divide is a health problem. If you are not connected — and if you do not know how to use the connection you have — your access to care, to education, and to economic opportunity narrows. Across two seasons, Coach Lucy, Dr. Rob, and Steve Peters of the Arizona Broadband Stakeholders Network have brought librarians, co-op operators, students, seniors, and rural health leaders to the same table to do something about it.
This song is what that work sounds like. Lighting Up the State is about a fiber line reaching a ranch in Bonita, a liver-scan clinic run out of a Tuba City library, a grandmother in Tucson who can finally see her doctor without driving ninety minutes. It's about the people Dr. Rob calls the ones who fight for it for their fellow citizens — because broadband, as he says on the show, is as important as electrification was in the thirties.
